The Oxford Shirt Factory
Location: Guimarães, Portugal
Established: 1958
Employees: 160
Last visit: July, 2020
In July of 2019, we flew to Portugal, to meet up with Antonio and discuss our next project.
Antonio owns one of the oldest shirt making factories in the North of Portugal, producing high-quality shirts since the 1950's. Back in the day, they were the official supplier for the Ferrari racing team (before Ferrari moved production overseas). A fact that came up just once or twice, while Antonio was giving us a tour of his factory.
Together with Anabela, who is in charge of production, we set out to develop the perfect Oxford Shirt. It takes 50 steps to produce, and uses 1.6 meters of organic cotton and a handful of natural shell buttons.
